Profile
The choir was founded in 2008 on the initiative of Pastor Lukas Wagner and 28 enthusiastic parishioners. The first choir rehearsal took place on 10.01.2008 and just 3 months later, on 16.03.2008, the first songs were sung at the Palm Sunday service as the "Gospel choir Tschöran" to the best.
Under the expert choir direction of Klaus Neubauer This was followed by 6 to 10 performances per year, a joint choir weekend and occasional joint excursions.
The first full-length concert took place on 8 July 2011 as part of the "Spiritual Evening Music" series in Villach in the Protestant church in the Stadtpark. The repertoire at that time already comprised 60 songs.
We have already sung cheerfully at weddings and christenings, at the provincial exhibition in Fresach, in the Feldkirchen town courtyard, at the Villach Christmas market, in the Gnesau Protestant church, in St. Leonhard, in Waiern, and of course again and again in Tschöran.
Klaus led every rehearsal with incomparable humour, a finely tuned ear and virtuoso musical sensitivity. Many thanks for this fun and instructive time!
In January 2016, the company took over Michael Kalin the musical direction. Of course, we also find time for annual choir weekends, celebrations and fun get-togethers in addition to our rehearsals and performances.
At the 2017 summer festival, the new choir name was chosen in a vote. See major The name was chosen because there was now a rich repertoire of songs in which gospels and spirituals no longer made up the majority.
In the same year, we decided on the appearance that can be seen in the photos. The name Tschöran comes from the Windic word "crn", which means "dark" or "black". This is due to the fact that the Gerlitzen foothills of Deutschberg set the sun over Tschöran several hours earlier than for the rest of Lake Ossiach. Our choir outfit therefore not only reflects the glittering blue-green of the lake, but also, with the black, our affiliation to Tschöran. We also thought these glitter ponchos and petrol-coloured ties were simply beautiful.
Every good homepage also has a paragraph with lots of numbers - here's ours: To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Choir 2023, See Dur had 18 members and gave a brilliant charity concert on 4 November as part of the Treffner Kulturtage. On this evening, the 200 listeners heard songs with 5 different instruments in 6 different languages, from 7 different genres and with 9 different soloists! But the best thing was that € 1,800.00 was raised for those affected by the Gegendtal floods.
In spring 2024, a happy coincidence meant that See Dur was now able to present itself in a colourful summer outfit. This spontaneous idea immediately appealed to everyone in the choir, as many different colours express our joy in versatility.
So let us surprise you with which of the appearances awaits you the next time you come to listen to us!
